The student year has officially begun, The Circus came to Uni lol & FacePaint galore!

 

Monday 12th September.

OMG how I haven’t missed getting up at 5am to go to university get me there for 9am lol, feeling like death and dragging myself out of bed, it was time to get myself together and hall arse to the train station to meet Nicole & Leah!! wooo Gang’s back together again. Leah filled us in as usual about her summer holiday and what’s been going on, and it was nice to see each other again 😀 plus I got to see Lauren who I haven’t seen since we left!.

All the hello’s & how have you been’s over and done with it was time for Tina’s lesson ready for SFX! After going through our schedule for this first term, we got to sit about and come up with our first characters of the year which involves creating face casts again and any character we like as long it involves airbrushing & a prosthetic OBVs! So Pencils out! and time for a sketch and a brain storm. Not going to lie I fell asleep for half an hour 😀 (Standard of Miss Letch!) my alarm went off at 10:30am lol and woke me up! I mean it was bound to happen, I cant help it hahahaha.

After Tina’s we were supposed to have our tutorial with our new tutor Garry! Hi Garry 😀 Your in for a treat with us lot! thankfully we didn’t technically have to go to that, instead we had a meeting our principal and having to watch this stupid presentation on respect and blah blah blah 😀 Home Time! my favourite part of the day 😛 crawling into bed and what felt like a super long day, it was time to catch up on my sleep ready for day 2.

Tuesday 13th September.

Sam’s Class was up first 😀 😀 😀 So happy we have Sam again this year as I really enjoyed her class last year :D. First up we have to create moustaches of a character or famous singer or someone we knew and the rest of the class had to guess who’s moustache it could have been. I decided to make mine like your little moustache you have going on lol & funnily enough so did Sophie 😀 we had matching Sam Moustaches!! they all turned out really good & I was on a roll guessing who’s they might have been 😀

We then went through this semesters schedule and have a think about what kind of character we might be coming up with this time, the first one has to have a moustache or a beard and the second is based on a childhood nightmare or memory! watch this space as I have some awesome ideas 😀

After Sam, we had Anna-May who now replaces Lindsay from last year although Anna-May’s class is slightly different and we only have 4000 words to write this time lol No Pressure!

We sat in her class until 3, we got to talk about work experience and ways to go about getting some. Part of our course involves working a certain amount of hours within the industry to pass this part of the course :D.

The freshers fair came to uni and they had advertised that the circus was coming aha, this involved a coconut shy, hook a duck, a guy on stilts and a candyfloss machine lol. Free candyfloss though! I cant say no to that aha. The stands were advertising the local stuff we can get involved in & were handing out free stuff lol! by about 4 it was time to head home as we were pooped and had stuff to get on with lol.

This week I ordered a ton of face paints ready for this year and they are AWESOME!!!!! check them out! I even had a play about with them and had ago at doing a neon zombie to see how pigmented the colours were 🙂

Dear Sam….

The time to de stress can begin….

The weeks of serious stress, Time running out & its all over….. until September!

so the past couple of weeks have been crazy busy! 2 assessments in 1 day, work to finish off and catch up on. Creating crazy outfits for crazy characters & I was a dragon for the afternoon.

Where do I start….

The past couple of blog posts have been about us making these moulds ready to start making our prosthetic pieces. The last time I posted I think I had just moulded my first one! and it turned out better than what I expected… so the time had come for me & Nicole to use the pieces we had created, on each other for our superhero/Supervillian characters we had to make. Nicole’s was based around the pink dragon from Shrek! and mine was loosely based on Maleficent! they turned out sooo cool. But before I show you, let me take you back to where the stress began!

Nicole had her Supervillain assessment up first! with me kindly being her model for it. she had created big wings, brought me this gorgeous grey wig and brought the fishnet stocking for later 😛 aha. She started by applying the piece to my face, which felt really weird trying to breath through the little slits on the nose piece. She then airbrushed it pink added in the detail (She used the fishnet tights to create scales up my arm and around the prosthetic piece (Magic))and daah daaah the creation was made.

My Supervillain was loosely based on Maleficent 🙂 (Who doesn’t love that movie!)

Her name was Aurella! she had large antlers and a big long cloak and mini antlers growing from her head 🙂 I was so happy with how the final look turned out. However! I need to work on my edges of my prosthetic piece as they took me forever to blend out when it came to applying them. I airbrushed all around the edges with black and blended it into her hair, so you couldn’t see the fact that the prosthetic was slightly bigger than her forehead! she shouted at me as I cut some of her hair off trimming it 😛 Sorry Nicole! I used a giant piece of black fabric to create the cloak, and I was going to make a staff, but it was going to be a lot to carry on the day as I also had another assessment… but more about that shortly. Here was the final Piece.

I attached the antlers by hot glue gunning them to a black headband, I separated her hair and pulled some of it through the middle of the antlers so you couldn’t see it, then tied string to the back to hold it to her head as they were pretty heaving lol. Nicole worked her fabulous magic to make my photos turn out great 🙂 My favourite one yet!

On the same day I had my Directors assessment. We had to create characters that would fit into a directors movie. I chose to do Tim Burton! Love him! I chose to do Pinocchio and turn him into something that would go into a film….I did the sunken eyes, the stripes and the dark messy hair! I also bought a prosthetic pixie nose instead of the usual long nose that Pinocchio has ( in the final image you cant see the nose best)… we had to do a demo in front of some of our classmates and show how to do the make (whilst being filmed) aha the most nerve racking thing ever! Thanks Nadia!

I had my tears that day… it had been a long hard stressful day, plus I wasn’t feeling to great… so I had a moment! the first of many from the girls 😛

I was pleased with the fact I got it all done and they looked great!

A week later it was submission day & 4pm was the deadline… thankfully I had completed the work the night before and just wanted to hand it in and get it out of my possession lol. I did the best I could and fingers crossed I at least get a pass! The queues for the printers that day was unreal…. there was a lot of paper, laptops and glue sticks! with everyone running around frantically trying to get all their work done on time! Us girls had arranged a meal in the local restaurant, to have drinks, a big meal and a final catch up before we all broke up for the summer! It was a fabulous after noon! *Clink* Thank F**k its all over!

Had such a great time this year with them all. YOU ALL BETTER BE BACK NEXT YEAR!

I have learnt my lesson this time and I’m determined to do even better next year and not be so lazy on a few things….. I shall be spending the summer researching on more stuff & buying more makeup for my kit!

I had this cartoon picture of me done, that I can use in the future for a logo or something… or a profile picture because it looks so cool 🙂

The week of 1940’s Photoshop, Face Casting Stage 2 & Harry Potter World

Monday 7th March..

Lindsay’s class this week was this smart target stuff again, nothing exciting just pulling ourselves together ready for this new essay thing we got to write 😀

Vicky’s this week was us sorting out our Fairy-tale idea and which Lost Boy we were picking to do for the assessment 🙂 I’m so excited to start making the outfit and everything for this assessment 😛

Carl’s class involved me photo shopping my 1940’s photos, still not finished it or 100% happy, but its getting there, I managed to remove the logo off her boiler suit and Photoshop a giant British flag behind her, Oh and we greyed it slightly.

 

Tuesday 8th March…

This week in Sam’s class all the other girls had their 1940’s assessments, me and Nicole were supposed to practice airbrushing for our superhero assessment, but she ended being roped in as a model for Ashleigh, so ill let her off, so I pretty much pottered about, annoyed everyone and had a mess around with the airbrushing gun for the whole of 10 mins lol… this is what I achieved hahaha 😀 Loads Right!

We finally finished the moulding part of our prosthetics, and it was time to do the next stage. Basically you have to build a moat around the prosthetic piece to pour the silicone on to create the negative mould!, so this involved loads of WED clay being built up (WED clay is clay that Walt Disney uses to create little figures, its named after him) So by this point my mould started to look like a dinosaur hahaha

you put little keyhole things in the clay so you can pop the mould out when the silicone has been poured in, we even had to cover the eyes with these star shapes, which makes it look really creepy!

Next step its to mix picture A and picture B together which creates the first layer of silicone which takes 6 hours to cure (Dry)

So next week we pour another layer on top of what we have done to create the final piece of the mould, for the next step.

 

Wednesday 9th March.

I went to Nicole’s house to meet up with her ready to head to Manchester, we nipped into Manchester town centre so I could grab a new suitcase for uni & one of those neck pillows for the long journey we had coming up the following day. Leah met up with us in Manchester, so we could grab some food which was yum!, we found this noodle bar, which is right next to the train station, where you can fill it up with noodles and toppings and eat loads, The spring rolls weren’t very nice, and it was pretty filling but it was nice lol. It doesn’t look very appetising but it was lol.

Molly came to pick us up, ready to head to the supermarket to grab some munchies for the bus the next day. Stocking up on Sweets, chocolate and more junk food, we were ready. Slumber party at Molly’s, we had a good time, even though we had a boiling night sleep, Nicole decided to sleep on me and Leah made weird noises when she slept hahahaha.

Thursday 10th March…. Harry Potter Day!!!

5am wake up call, to get out life together, jump in the car and get  to uni for 6am for the bus which would drive us all the way down to London to Harry Potter Studios! 5 hours it took on the way there on this really fancy bus we had, where the chairs reclined and it had a toilet :D.

Arriving at 11am we were all dying of tiredness, but we were excited to be there 😀

Random Fact but there were 17 fire places made in the Ministry Of Magic, all the green tiles were made from wood and hand painted (they blew them all up in one of the last movies), and they made 15,000 orbs for the Atrium (handmade) and then decided to use CGI instead after all the hard work of making them.

The SFX side of the movie was really cool, we got to see all the face casts of the different characters & Actors, all the Animatronics’ such as the book that has the teeth, buck beak who moved and blinked, the giant spider which took 16 people just to operate and things like Voldemort when he was that little gremlin thing which moved and so did the Mandrake which bopped up and down out of his plant pot lol.

The Night Bus – Take It Away Ernie!

Firstly Butter Beer Is Rank! Its Like a soda float, that’s fizzy and buttery but also bitter! The white foamy scum on the top is nice though! 😛  Me & Nicole shared one as we weren’t sure if we were going to like plus it was £7 just for one cup! privet drive was shut but apparently as of May there opening it up so you can go in and have a look around. Also in that section was the wooden bridge, I think it was the shrieking shack, Ron’s blue car & Hagrids bike.

It was cool that you got to go on the Hogwarts express, and look in all the carriage’s. They were layed out like they were in the film’s and it showed which film and year it was from. We didn’t want to pay £14 for the professional images lol, so we cheated and took pictures of them when they came up on the screen 😀

Looking at all the architecture and drawings they did before they even created the movies was amazing!, when we walked around the corner, this giant replica of Hogwarts was there! I mean its HUGE! and we were like WOW!

We had an amazing day, even though it was tiring and I didn’t get back to my own bed until 1am on Friday morning lol. From the gift shop I bought one of those Snap board things they use in the movies when there doing a scene! 😀 always wanted one! plus before we left, we noticed there was a new film set being built for a new movie! we had a guess what it might be. However I was on a mission to find out exactly! So I ran over to the fence, this bloke on a fork lift truck was driving past… I shouted OI! & This was literally the convo:

Me: What going to be filmed on this set?

The Bloke: I’m not aloud to tell you….

Me: Ahhh please I wont tell anyone lol, Give me a clue!

The Bloke: Well where are you?  Its something related to Harry Potter

(We guessed that it was Fantastic Beasts & Where to Find Them, which is the book Harry Potter reads in one of the movies)

Me: So is it to do with the book Harry reads?

The Bloke: (Winks at me) Yes!!!

Woooooooooooo!! So apparently its being filmed in the summer and will be out soon starring Eddie Redmayne! (Sorry Mr Fork lift Man but I can keep my mouth shut!) 😛

HOME TIME!!!!! it was time for me to crawl into bed after the long day that we had

had such a lovely day! love my little uni family 😀

Dear Sam…

The week where I’m going to skip Monday, I wore a wig & our face casts look ugly lol.

Can I just point out that I haven’t fallen asleep in a lesson since like November!!!! hahahahaha….

Monday 25th January

I’m going to skip Monday this week as it was pretty pants, not much exciting went on and as per usual I skipped Carl’s class again…. I sat in for a whole 10 mins that’s an achievement for me this year ahahaha…. I swore to him though id stay next week and crack on with this Photoshop malarkey.

Tuesday 26th January

This week in Sam’s lesson we were learning how to apply wigs and all about the 1940’s looks ready for this assessment that’s coming our way in march I think it is! Nicole prepped my hair in hundreds of hair clips in rings ready for the wig to be applied and then attached… we had so many to choose from, from small short bobs to crazy Tina Turner curly wigs…. I opted for this really long wavy white wig… which I think we used way back last year on Nicole when we did the ageing witch 😀 we all had them on, we looked like something out of RuPaul’s drag race with us all changing hair styles and having big wigs on lol

Sam then did this demo with 1940’s traditional Makeup and this wig she had already made up in those ‘S’ shape waves they have like what’s her face lol (Emma Stone) has in Gangster Squad!

Then It was lunch and I was starving…

This week in Tina’s class it was time to crack open those moulds from last week and see how they turned out….. it took us a whole 20 mins just to try and figure out who was who (trust me its really difficult trying to find your own face in loads of other faces) after finding both mine & Nicole’s it was time for us to file, sand, shave, dremal, Chisel you name it we did it to these faces to smooth them down and get rid of all the lumps and bumps…. I should have took photos, as the before photos look minging, our face’s look bloated and nobbly bobbly hahaha.

Next week we finally get to start creating our prosthetics on them ready for our Superhero/Supervillian characters 😀 I’m well excited!!!
