Dear Sam….

The week that Monday was a stressful one, Moustaches again! & Student lock in 🙂

Monday 26th September

Tina’s this week was pulling out our face casts from last week & filing them down to make them smooth ready for sculpting next week 🙂 Lauren’s face turned out great 😛 I spent 2 hours, sanding it, filing and smoothing making sure it was perfect ready to start creating my creation on Monday next week 🙂

14479673_10153607113726362_1867549378944374310_n

I did have the chance to start this week, however I wasn’t in the best mind set to start it off, so I decided to wait and draw up some designs before I start. Last year I remember I just winged it and that’s not always the best thing to do 🙂

Oh & I got electrocuted this week by the bloody plug socket, taking the drill out of the wall, it shocked me 😦 it really hurt… so that was my Monday morning lol!

Garry’s class this week lasted the whole of 10 mins, while he asked if we had any problems & then decided we didn’t need to stay BONUS!.

On the way home, we hopped onto the train, tired and knackered… it got stuck at Wigan 😦 we literally had to jump from one train to the other with like 5 min.. unfortunately for Nicole she was asleep lol.. bless her she had to literally run half asleep with me and Leah shouting at her to move her arse hahaha.

Tuesday 27th September

Sam’s Class today was learning plaiting techniques & carrying on with these moustaches! I’m so proud of myself on how far I got with mine, considering last week it took me 2 hours to do about 6 hairs 🙂

14463031_10153607113776362_4414796253975973998_n

I know this doesn’t look like loads, but there was more hairs by the time the lesson had finished! the orange bit in the picture, is where all the hairs have to be 🙂 I have about 4-5 weeks to get it all done, hair by hair 🙂

We didn’t have Anna-May this week as some of the girls went off to be in the audience of Countdown…. We chose to not go because A. The normal Countdown is boring (If it was 8 out of 10 cats I would have gone) & B. it would have meant that we got home late! Plus student lock in was on this week.

Which leads me on to heading to a really cute dessert house called Carmello which did loads of cakes & Macaroons 🙂 I had a passion fruit one, Pistachio and a Vanilla & Strawberry one, they were so yummy :D…

after that we headed to Lauren’s flat for an hour and chilled out until It was time to head into Manchester City Centre for the huge student shopping night…. we went everywhere! I got a new pair of jeans and this really cute jacket… I was exhausted by the time I got home….

This Weeks Makeup look I went for was this really cool clown, I wanted to play about with some of my new face paints that I got, and wanted to see what I came up with 🙂 also had to add in the Snapchat filter of course 😛

Baldcaps, FaceCasting, Knotting Moustaches & Legging It!

Monday 19th September

Its week 2! & back in with Tina Again :D.. This week we got our boxes which had been filled over the weekend ready for the new year 😀 We each get a box with a bunch of materials in, so that everyone has the same amount of products to use over the year so were not arguing over each year using more of one thing than the other!

In this box we get, silicone, plaster bandages, a block of clay, some mixing pots & a marker 😛 I’m so happy that they actually went through with what they were going to do! 😀

Anyway Tina’s class this week was making bald caps ready to face cast for our new characters! So applying layer upon layer of latex the bald caps were coming together. This time I’m using Lauren as my model. So after my usual morning nap 😛 and lunch, it was time to get Laurens face casted and ready for next week. Only took me an hour & refreshed my memory about it all form last year :D.

Next up was tutorial with Garry lol, he introduced himself and told us what his lesson was all about. Basically we go to him if we have any problems! Plus he said he’s going to show us how to use Photoshop properly this year, as from my blog posts from last year, you can see all the drama we had in that lesson 😛

Tuesday 20th September

My GOD was it cold this morning! I haven’t missed all that at all, I even had to put my gloves on!

Sam’s class was up first, and this week we had to start the knotting technique ready to start these moustaches & beards! &&&& its sooooo stressful and fiddly! you have to hook about 2 hairs into a little knot using this tool with a hook on the end, but you end up catching the hook on the mesh and then it all just becomes a knotty mess! Took me an hour just to get 6 hairs onto it lol. Once you get into the swing of it, its really easy, but its starting the swing that’s annoying! 14358762_10153590817201362_2519828154304334179_n14359118_10153590817051362_2726600839955651107_n14440819_10153590816981362_5019853091771080501_n14445938_10153590816826362_4042660623858502099_n14370200_10153590817106362_974571096823456770_n

Oh & let me introduce you to Hannah! The blonde one in the picture above, she’s part of the gang now 🙂 two Hannah’s in the same class 😛 Hannah 1 & Hannah 2 lol, Such a cool name!

Next week we have to start actually making the moustaches & stuff ready for our characters, this is going to be a stressful few weeks trying to knot it all if I only did those 6 hairs in an hour haha.

Anna Mays class this week was talking about our Cv’s and how to get them ready for industry when we get shoved into the big wide world and have to find a job! we even got to play a game of Kahoot again which we used to do with Lindsay and involves winning sweets 😀 I’m There! always haha.

We had 3 minutes to leg it to the train this week lol, three of us pegging it up the escalator and literally made it by a second before the doors shut! pros at this shit!

So Last year all the girls would take the mick because I always fell asleep everywhere, this year im going to get them all back! starting with Leah & Nicole…. Unfortunately, to Leah’s expense I didn’t save her picture, however Nicole on the other hand, got well and truly paid back!

That will teach you!

This week I also bought a ring light thing that attaches to your phone so you can take better pictures with a bit of extra light, like selfies & stuff, I bought it so when I face paint I can take better pictures as the lighting in this house is not great!

14390921_10153592313736362_2532888042485708822_n

I’m going to try it out tonight to see what its like 😛

Anyway Speak Soon

Dear Sam…

Dear Sam ….

The student year has officially begun, The Circus came to Uni lol & FacePaint galore!

Monday 12th September.

OMG how I haven’t missed getting up at 5am to go to university get me there for 9am lol, feeling like death and dragging myself out of bed, it was time to get myself together and hall arse to the train station to meet Nicole & Leah!! wooo Gang’s back together again. Leah filled us in as usual about her summer holiday and what’s been going on, and it was nice to see each other again 😀 plus I got to see Lauren who I haven’t seen since we left!.14355047_10153574859551362_1854840281749438788_n

All the hello’s & how have you been’s over and done with it was time for Tina’s lesson ready for SFX! After going through our schedule for this first term, we got to sit about and come up with our first characters of the year which involves creating face casts again and any character we like as long it involves airbrushing & a prosthetic OBVs! So Pencils out! and time for a sketch and a brain storm. Not going to lie I fell asleep for half an hour 😀 (Standard of Miss Letch!) my alarm went off at 10:30am lol and woke me up! I mean it was bound to happen, I cant help it hahahaha.

After Tina’s we were supposed to have our tutorial with our new tutor Garry! Hi Garry 😀 Your in for a treat with us lot! thankfully we didn’t technically have to go to that, instead we had a meeting our principal and having to watch this stupid presentation on respect and blah blah blah 😀 Home Time! my favourite part of the day 😛 crawling into bed and what felt like a super long day, it was time to catch up on my sleep ready for day 2.

Tuesday 13th September.

Sam’s Class was up first 😀 😀 😀 So happy we have Sam again this year as I really enjoyed her class last year :D. First up we have to create moustaches of a character or famous singer or someone we knew and the rest of the class had to guess who’s moustache it could have been. I decided to make mine like your little moustache you have going on lol & funnily enough so did Sophie 😀 we had matching Sam Moustaches!! they all turned out really good & I was on a roll guessing who’s they might have been 😀 14370309_10153574859446362_6664079671419443214_n

I added in a soul patch for you 😛

14333671_10155193608538625_8772615748250905005_n

We then went through this semesters schedule and have a think about what kind of character we might be coming up with this time, the first one has to have a moustache or a beard and the second is based on a childhood nightmare or memory! watch this space as I have some awesome ideas 😀

After Sam, we had Anna-May who now replaces Lindsay from last year although Anna-May’s class is slightly different and we only have 4000 words to write this time lol No Pressure!

We sat in her class until 3, we got to talk about work experience and ways to go about getting some. Part of our course involves working a certain amount of hours within the industry to pass this part of the course :D.

The freshers fair came to uni and they had advertised that the circus was coming aha, this involved a coconut shy, hook a duck, a guy on stilts and a candyfloss machine lol. Free candyfloss though! I cant say no to that aha. The stands were advertising the local stuff we can get involved in & were handing out free stuff lol! by about 4 it was time to head home as we were pooped and had stuff to get on with lol.

This week I ordered a ton of face paints ready for this year and they are AWESOME!!!!! check them out! I even had a play about with them and had ago at doing a neon zombie to see how pigmented the colours were 🙂

Dear Sam ….

Dear Sam….

The time to de stress can begin….

The weeks of serious stress, Time running out & its all over….. until September!

so the past couple of weeks have been crazy busy! 2 assessments in 1 day, work to finish off and catch up on. Creating crazy outfits for crazy characters & I was a dragon for the afternoon.

Where do I start….

The past couple of blog posts have been about us making these moulds ready to start making our prosthetic pieces. The last time I posted I think I had just moulded my first one! and it turned out better than what I expected… so the time had come for me & Nicole to use the pieces we had created, on each other for our superhero/Supervillian characters we had to make. Nicole’s was based around the pink dragon from Shrek! and mine was loosely based on Maleficent! they turned out sooo cool. But before I show you, let me take you back to where the stress began!

Nicole had her Supervillain assessment up first! with me kindly being her model for it. she had created big wings, brought me this gorgeous grey wig and brought the fishnet stocking for later 😛 aha. She started by applying the piece to my face, which felt really weird trying to breath through the little slits on the nose piece. She then airbrushed it pink added in the detail (She used the fishnet tights to create scales up my arm and around the prosthetic piece (Magic))and daah daaah the creation was made. 13102646_10153293115331362_6060340302014439423_n

My Supervillain was loosely based on Maleficent 🙂 (Who doesn’t love that movie!)

Her name was Aurella! she had large antlers and a big long cloak and mini antlers growing from her head 🙂 I was so happy with how the final look turned out. However! I need to work on my edges of my prosthetic piece as they took me forever to blend out when it came to applying them. I airbrushed all around the edges with black and blended it into her hair, so you couldn’t see the fact that the prosthetic was slightly bigger than her forehead! she shouted at me as I cut some of her hair off trimming it 😛 Sorry Nicole! I used a giant piece of black fabric to create the cloak, and I was going to make a staff, but it was going to be a lot to carry on the day as I also had another assessment… but more about that shortly. Here was the final Piece.

13179303_10153304031331362_2170783744308275211_n0Q4A056813151889_10153304141436362_6161893279085780205_n

I attached the antlers by hot glue gunning them to a black headband, I separated her hair and pulled some of it through the middle of the antlers so you couldn’t see it, then tied string to the back to hold it to her head as they were pretty heaving lol. Nicole worked her fabulous magic to make my photos turn out great 🙂 My favourite one yet!

On the same day I had my Directors assessment. We had to create characters that would fit into a directors movie. I chose to do Tim Burton! Love him! I chose to do Pinocchio and turn him into something that would go into a film….I did the sunken eyes, the stripes and the dark messy hair! I also bought a prosthetic pixie nose instead of the usual long nose that Pinocchio has ( in the final image you cant see the nose best)… we had to do a demo in front of some of our classmates and show how to do the make (whilst being filmed) aha the most nerve racking thing ever! Thanks Nadia!

Directors.jpg

I had my tears that day… it had been a long hard stressful day, plus I wasn’t feeling to great… so I had a moment! the first of many from the girls 😛

I was pleased with the fact I got it all done and they looked great!

A week later it was submission day & 4pm was the deadline… thankfully I had completed the work the night before and just wanted to hand it in and get it out of my possession lol. I did the best I could and fingers crossed I at least get a pass! The queues for the printers that day was unreal…. there was a lot of paper, laptops and glue sticks! with everyone running around frantically trying to get all their work done on time! Us girls had arranged a meal in the local restaurant, to have drinks, a big meal and a final catch up before we all broke up for the summer! It was a fabulous after noon! *Clink* Thank F**k its all over!

Had such a great time this year with them all. YOU ALL BETTER BE BACK NEXT YEAR!

I have learnt my lesson this time and I’m determined to do even better next year and not be so lazy on a few things….. I shall be spending the summer researching on more stuff & buying more makeup for my kit!

I had this cartoon picture of me done, that I can use in the future for a logo or something… or a profile picture because it looks so cool 🙂

Dear Sam….

Dear Sam…

The week where the Snow Fell, Molly past her driving test, and our face casting

Saturday afternoon the snow decided to fall all over the North West, everything was covered! it was like Narnia! Me & Joe decided to head out in the snow to go looking for some materials for one of my assessment’s and along the way throw a few snowballs 😛

Monday 18th January 2016,

This week in Lindsay’s lesson it was one to one meetings with her to discuss our literature reviews, this week my appointment was at 11 but we decided to go in early and catch up on work in her lesson. As iv pretty much come up with my ideas for the next 4 assessment’s, I sat and did a little more on my review and then started to gather images and inspiration for my ideas. Monday wasn’t really an exciting day as by 12pm I felt really sick and wasn’t in the best of moods, during lunchtime Molly came in and told us she just got her new car after passing her driving test, we decided to go out for lunch. Me, Nicole, Leah & Molly hopped into her new little red car and drove 2 doors up to the pub haha, turns out we didn’t like the food in there so hopped back in the car and headed further up the road to this little café. We ate burgers and sandwiches which was really nice (definitely going there again) and then headed back to university for Vicky’s lesson.

8266_10153081785536362_3031621941789702607_n12376393_10153081785476362_9095504613357142861_n12510322_10153081785441362_1981746201263987932_n

Vicky’s lesson this week was just going through the next assessment which is “fairy-tale” and be put into our little groups were going to end up working in – our group consists of Me, Nicole & Leah 🙂 Dream Team! haha 😀 we get to choose from the movies Peter Pan, Into The Wood, Midsummer Nights Dream & Alice in Wonderland. after Vicky’s I started to feel even worse from what I did Monday morning, so I decided to head home on my own go crawl into bed with a nice cup of tea and get an early night ready for the next day.

Tuesday 19th January 2016.

I now have this new craving on a uni morning to have egg on toast in the cafeteria before beginning my day, don’t ask me why but our new friend in the kitchen knows our orders before we even open our mouths haha, rolling into Sam’s lesson with my brew and a full stomach, it was time to begin the morning with learning how to do pin rolls and like 1940’s heated roller roll thing (right this second I cant remember what the hell they are called :D) after getting into the swing of it, it became a lot easier than it actually looked… we did the pin rolls on our heads that we have and then the heated roller one on each other…

12552760_10153081785416362_6961159122889119549_n12510360_10153081785286362_6507348264448005990_n12507344_10153081785371362_9060175543299977542_n12510491_10153081785241362_7342149627844737343_n12417962_10153081784971362_8896191354619667630_n12509061_10153081785106362_1643881131962406620_n

12573895_10153081785071362_4555200089558631481_n

I stupidly didn’t take picture after I took the rollers out, but they did turn out pretty cool, although Nicole’s heated roller curls literally fell out completely by the end of the day.

Tina’s lesson this week involved me and Nicole having to do our face casts ready for next week! we were doing ours in the alginate this week, I decided that Nicole was going to go first as I was being a little bit of a chicken lol, she did really well with us all around her piling layers and layers of alginate and plaster paris on her face. Then it was my turn and I was freaking out before it was even applied! As each layer went on, I was trying my absolute hardest not to get the fit of giggles underneath so I didn’t ruin the shape of the face. Overall it took about 25 mins to complete the whole process and I didn’t freak out and it turned out really well! plus it makes your skin feel so smooth!! BONUS! next week we get to crack out the solid plaster to see how they actually turned out 😀 .

12552527_10153081784936362_3852831913465247409_n

Once the moulds are cracked out we get to file the down and then start working on them creating prosthetic pieces for our “super hero/Super villain” Assessment. I’m excited to see how they look!

Dear Sam…

Dear Sam……

The week we got stranded and the face casting fiasco.

Monday 11th January,

The dreaded 4:30am wake up was the worst thing ever, leaving the house at 5:40 to head to the train station, it was bloody freezing! like to the point where I couldn’t feel my fingertips. I arrived to find that they had changed the route of the usual train we get on (which now runs via Bolton) which leads me on to the whole drama that happened on this fine morning. Leah & Nicole Hopped on the train and as we got to the stop before Bolton, the lovely conductor man decided to inform us that the train was actually terminating at Bolton due to some signalling problems in Manchester! (Seriously) we were now stranded in Bolton in the freezing cold, starving, with not having a clue where we actually were, never being to Bolton before, we were now on the mission to find somewhere to eat at 7:20 when nowhere is open :P. Finally finding a Sainsbury’s we scurried over (or in Leah’s case hobbled) to see if the café was open to grab something to eat, turns out it didn’t open until 8am so we grabbed some croissants and headed back to the station to try and catch the next train running back north so we could get home to Nicoles and try and Skype into first lesson (Lindsay’s). Back at Nicole’s house, we got Lauren to Skype us when she got into uni so we could explain what had been going on and it also meant that we didn’t miss out on an important lesson, it turned out to be pretty funny and it was pure dedication. As Lindsey emailed over some of the hand outs, it meant we got to print it out at Nicole’s and join in on the stuff that they were doing in class (plus she marked us in on the register lol so even though we were actually there we still got marked in. That makes her a Legend!).

During Lindsay’s lesson, she told us there was a meeting going on, so we asked if we could come along to, so Lauren carried us up on the laptop, and even gave us our own chair to sit on so we could listen in on the news they were announcing….. which basically turned out to be the fact they were putting us back onto a foundation degree & that Sheffield university were now marking our work instead of stupid Manchester Met. &&&& on that note it was time for me to head back home and have a nap after all that travelling for nothing hahaha.

Tuesday 12th January,

Today I decided to drag Joe into uni with me so I could face cast his face for Tina’s lesson…but before that it was time to head in and see Sam and catch up with all the information we need for the next set of assignments….Glynn or Glenn or Gavin (can never remember his name) came in again to get some feed back on the meeting that had happened on the Monday lol we told him to grab his notepad and whack some Whiskey in his tea as he was in for an ear bashing again from us lot with more complaining about the course situation and how everything had changed again halfway through the course! DRAMA!!!!! for once in my life, I kept my mouth shut more than I should 😀 .Anyway for the rest of Sam’s lesson we got to pick a slip of paper with a historic year on it and then create a makeup look for that year, whether it be traditional or our own interpretation of it. My little group got the 1920’s, so we went with the traditional ‘Flapper Girl’, with the frilly dress, head piece with a feather, lots of beads and one of those stick things that a cigarette goes in the end, all posh and that 😀 . Molly was our fabulous model and although this look could have been so much more better, our resources weren’t the best but I suppose you got to work with what you got.

12524041_10153069636211362_3662542635479315284_n1924042_10153069636581362_6650534941649750086_n12540962_10153069636491362_5320746025611863518_n12417958_10153069636511362_8632993205156746499_n12549028_10153069636631362_316357488546113502_n12540998_10153069636746362_1055143368137221027_n Next up was Tina’s lesson, the week before we had a demo on doing it with silicone & this week we were shown how to do it with the Algernate which is a fast drying layer you apply onto the face before applying the plaster paris stuff to make the solid shell for you to pour in the plaster to then create the prosthetic pieces on. Lisa was the model for the demo this week.

It looks like the worst thing ever to have done! I get the joys of it next week and I’m bricking it!… this week we got to do our own casting on models we had brung in, which leads me onto why Joe was with me 😀 …. we did his face casting in silicone, but it didn’t go quite to plan, as the first layer went on (Me & Nicole on silicone Duty and Ashleigh on Nose watch (so he don’t suffocate)) I was mixing up the next lot to apply on top, by this point he had been sat in it for 15 mins as Tina gave me 2 empty tins of silicone and then we couldn’t get the lids of the next set… this meant when the next layer went on, someone went over the nostril area and nearly suffocated him, which he then panicked, which meant we had to pull the whole thing off, it was a mad moment of panic ( I’m shit in a panicking situation) not going to lie. Which means if Joe had a freak out with it, I will…. we shall have to see what happens next week with it all ( I always get the fit of giggles when it comes to situations like this) so I’m sure it will be an experience 😀 :D.
